livedocuments is a web app where people make pages together in real time: articles, slide decks, infographics and posters. Anyone with access to a document can join, see other collaborators' cursors and edits live, and contribute at the same time. The result is something finished to share, a write-up, a deck or a one-pager, that a team builds together rather than one person authoring and the rest reviewing.
A document of pages
A document holds tabs, and every tab is a row of pages. Each page is one of a few kinds, chosen when you make it. See Working with Pages.
- Articles to write on like a document: headings, lists, pictures and charts, with the writing flowing onto new pages as it grows. See Writing Articles.
- Slides for a deck, each one started from a slide layout and in the slide deck as soon as you make it. See Slide Pages.
- Infographics to lay out freely in print and social sizes, starting from a layout if you like. See Infographic Layouts.
You build a page from the palette: text, shapes, icons, pictures, charts, ready-made components and more. Templates start a tab from ready-made pages, so you rarely begin from a blank one.
Presenting, exporting and AI
- Present a deck full screen, with the laser and the spotlight to point things out. See Presenting.
- Export pages as a PDF, images or an animated GIF. See Exporting and Presenting Pages.
- Markdown works in an article: type Markdown shortcuts as you write, or paste Markdown and it turns into formatted headings, lists and quotes. See Writing Articles.
- AI tools such as Claude can work on your documents over MCP. See Connect an AI Tool.
Built for working together
When more than one person is in the same document, everyone sees live cursors, who has what selected, and every change as it happens. An element someone else has selected is locked for everyone else, so collaborators rarely overwrite each other. Comments, teams and sharing are built in.
To make that frictionless, the editor always works without signing in. You can open a new document, build something real, and hand the link to a colleague who edits it straight away, no account required. See Sharing your document.
Free and open source
livedocuments is MIT-licensed and free for everyone. There is no paid tier and no plan to introduce one. It runs at livedocuments.app, and the whole codebase is open for anyone to read. Every feature is available to every user. See Why use livedocuments?.
The fastest way to understand livedocuments is to use it. Open a new document and make your first page, no sign-up needed.
